Interested in Rhythmic Gymnastics?

Recently, I received several emails asking for more information on the Serdang Rhythmic Angels club. So, here we are:

If you are living in Seri Kembangan, Bangi, Balakong, Puchong, Cyberjaya or even Putrajaya and is interested to send your daughter for rhythmic gymnastics training. Do drop by at Serdang Rhythmic Angels Rhythmic Gymnastics Club which has their training sessions every Saturday from 9 am-12.30 pm at SJK( c ) Serdang Baru 2.

The club is voluntarily handled by Mdm Kok Mong Lin and Mdm Teh Lah Hoong. They have a team of 12 coaches, which comprises of former gymnasts to handle the classes from Grade Little Gymnasts to Grade 5. The club has also several pre-junior and junior stars in the making.

With a registration fee of RM 40 and monthly fees starting from RM 35 per month, this is entirely a non-profitable club. The founders are ever so dedicated in promoting the sport in Malaysia. So far, the club has successfully organised 4 editions of our own Angel Cup, an international competition and numerous classification competition for the budding gymnasts throughout the year. The recently concluded Angel Cup has seen over 200 gymnasts from 10 countries vying for the cup.

Angel Cup 2010 Drawing Near!!

Wow!! Time really flies......In less than a month's time, 17 teams from 11 different countries(including Malaysia) will arrive here for the 4th edition of this competition. Thus far, the countries which have confirmed their entries are Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, China, Australia, Cyprus, Uzbekistan, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Other than the individual competitions, there will be the Little Angels Gala and the Aesthetic Angels Gala. This will be interesting too because many little girls and also 'big' girls( I mean retired gymnasts) will be making a comeback into the sport just for this tournament. I will be taking part in the Aesthetic Gala and we are training really hard to gear up for the competition , especially since most of us are considered 'rusty' already.

Anyway, this tournament is fully handled by parents and coaches volunteers. And with less than a month to the tournament, the preparation is in full swing. Entries, transport, food, t-shirts , donations and so much more. There is ever so much to do here. But trust me, this year's shirt will be really different and unique:)

Everyone is welcome and encourage to turn up and support the participants as well as show them what Malaysia's hospitality is all about. Well, that is the sports spirit!!

Serdang Rhythmic Angel's Calender

Serdang Rhythmic Angels is selling a special edition calender which features 20 gymnasts from the club to raise fund for the upcoming 4th Angel Cup. Among the gymnasts featured are Veronica Au Wei Ran who won the 2008 Angel Cup, 2009 Mol International Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup in Belgium, 2009 Orange Cup in Japan and many more. Besides that, 2008 Angel Cup Pre-Junior Champion, 2009 Mol International Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup Pre-Junior Champion-Loh Chooi Joy is also featured in the month of August.

The calender is sold for RM 10.

To me, it is worth it because it has a sentimental value and this is the first time the club has came up with a calender. I also obtained the autographs of the gymnasts featured!!

Angel Cup 2008 Prize Giving

Serdang Rhythmic Angel's 4th Angel Cup is coming! It will be on the 13-15th of August one week before the Olympic Youth Games in Singapore:-)

So far, there are 17 teams from 11 countries expressing their interest to take part in this year's competition which includes Australia, Thailand, Taiwan, Korea, New Zealand, Ukraine, Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, Japan and Vietnam..

The first commitee meeting was held today at the training centre. The commitee members were elected and most of the host families were determined. Overall, it was a successful meeting.

The next meeting will be on the 13th of March, with the hope that more volunteers will turn up.

I am sure this year's event will be bigger and better....!!!
